History of the Mouse

History of Keyboard And Mouse
The mouse is a very common and commonly used computer input device that locates the cursor on the current screen and manipulates the screen elements at the position where the cursor passes by the buttons and scroll wheel.
  • 1968, the prototype of the mouse was born;
  • December 1968, the world's first mouse was born at Stanford University. Its inventor is Dr. Douglas Engelbart. Designed to only the mouse, to use the mouse instead of the keyboard that tedious instruction, so that the operation of the computer easier. The shape of the mouse is a small wooden box, which works by pivoting the ball at the bottom of the mouse, which in turn drives the varistor to change the resistance to generate a displacement signal and transmit the signal to the host.
  • In the early 1980s, the first generation of optical squirrels appeared, which had higher precision than mechanical mice. But it must work on a special opto-moth pad with a fine grid. The excessive cost of this mouse limits its scope of use.
  • 1981, the first commercial mouse was born. (first widely used on Mac )
  • In 1983, Logitech invented the first optical-mechanical mouse, the mechanical mouse we are talking about today. This mouse structure has become the de facto industry standard.
  • 1999, Agilent (Agilent, later renamed Avago, Avago) released the IntelliEye optical engine, and then there was an optical mouse on the market that did not require a dedicated mousepad. The popularity of the optical mouse began.
  • 2003, Logitech and Microsoft launched a Bluetooth- enabled Bluetooth mouse.
  • 2005, Logitech partnered with Avago to launch the first laser mouse (wireless, rechargeable, Logitech MX1000).
  • 2006, the first wired laser mouse that overcomes glass barriers was introduced (DEXIN, ML45).
  • 2006, the Bluetooth laser mouse came out (Approx).
  • 2008, Microsoft introduced the Blue Smooth Mouse with Blue Track technology, which is compatible with almost all interfaces (Microsoft SideWinder X8).
  • 2009, Logitech introduced DarkField laser tracking technology. This technology is still using laser identification, combined with the "Darkfield" microscope technology used in the laboratory so that the mouse can also see small particles, dust, particles and other tiny substances in transparent materials, and borrow This provides identification location information.
  • 2009, Apple introduced the new mouse Magic Mouse, which uses multi-touch technology from iPhone, iPod Touch, and MacBook to remove all mouse buttons and scroll wheels, using only one multi-touch panel. It provides the left and right buttons of the normal mouse, as well as the 360-degree scroll wheel function, and can operate more gestures with two fingers.

A keyboard is a set of keys that are operated by a system to operate a machine or device. The main function is to input data.

The computer keyboard is one of the peripherals of the computer and is developed from the typewriter keyboard.

You can enter characters through the keyboard and control the operation of your computer.

History of Keyboard

History of Keyboard And Mouse

The earliest keyboard may have appeared in the early 17th century.

At that time, some people in Europe invented the typewriter with the less mature format, and the keyboard was applied to these typewriters.

In 1868, known as the "father of the typewriter," the American Christopher Latham Sholes Christopher Latham Sholes, received a typewriter model patent and obtained the right to operate a typewriter.

In the following years, people designed a modern typewriter in a practical form and standardized the basic structure of the keyboard for the first time, that is, the current "QWERTY" keyboard appeared.

But currently using a wider range of computer keyboards, people are often referred to as "keyboards."

In the middle of the 20th century, the keyboard added another place to use it as a basic input device for computers.

Timeline of Keyboard

While typewriters are the definitive ancestor of all key-based text entry devices, the computer keyboard as a device for electromechanical data entry and communication derives largely from the utility of two devices: teleprinters and keypunches.

Teleprinters And Keypunch.

It was through such devices that modern computer keyboards inherited their layouts.

As early as the 1870s, teleprinter-like devices were used to simultaneously type and transmit stock market text data from the keyboard across telegraph lines to stock ticker machines to be immediately copied and displayed onto ticker tape.

The teleprinter, in its more contemporary form, was developed from 1907 to 1910 by American mechanical engineer Charles Krum and his son Howard, with early contributions by electrical engineer Frank Pearne. Earlier models were developed separately by individuals such as Royal Earl House and Frederick G. Creed.

Earlier, Herman Hollerith developed the first keypunch devices, which soon evolved to include keys for text and number entry akin to normal typewriters by the 1930s.

The keyboard on the teleprinter played a strong role in point-to-point and point-to-multipoint communication for most of the 20th century, while the keyboard on the keypunch device played a strong role in data entry and storage for just as long.

The development of the earliest computers incorporated electric typewriter keyboards: the development of the ENIAC computer incorporated a keypunch device as both the input and paper-based output device,

while the BINAC computer also made use of an electromechanically controlled typewriter for both data entry onto magnetic tape (instead of paper) and data output.

The keyboard remained the primary, most integrated computer peripheral well into the era of personal computing until the introduction of the mouse as a consumer device in 1984. By this time, text-only user interfaces with sparse graphics gave way to comparatively graphics-rich icons on the screen.

However, keyboards remain central to human-computer interaction to the present, even as mobile personal computing devices such as smartphones and tablets adapt the keyboard as an optional virtual, touchscreen-based means of data entry.
